Both Gershwin musicals on Broadway received nominations for the 2012 Tony Awards!

10 nominations, to each, “The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess” and “Nice Work If You Can Get It”!

That’s just one nomination short (or almost twice as much, if you add them) of the nominations for the leader, “Once,” which came in with eleven

Also, you can catch me and some other organizers and participants in the Philadelphia “You Got Rhythm” Youth music competition being interveiwed on public radio WRTI by Jill Pasternak this week on CrossoverThe Library of Congress/White House/Gershwin Family is also presenting the Gershwin Medal to Burt Bacharach and Hal David, songwriting team authors of songs for Dionne Warwick, Dusty Springfield and other amazing performers!

For more than a half-century the collaboration of Bacharach-David has created such beloved songs as “Raindrops Keep Fallin’ On My Head,” “What the World Needs Now is Love,” “Walk on By” and “Alfie.”

Next, mid-May, the actual “You Got Rythm” competition and Gala Opening is taking place, where I will be participating in the presentation and speaking to the competitors.
